Audio Visual Production & Research Center:

BRAOU established its Audio Visual Production and Research Center (AVPRC) in1986 as part of the Material Production Directorate. The Center became a separate Directorate in 1993, with the following major objectives:

  • To produce audio and video programs.
  • To organize transmission of educational programs over radio and television.
  • To conduct training and programs in communication and
  • To undertake research in the field of educational technology as applied to distance education.

New Studios:

The new studios of AVPRC were inaugurated by Prof.A.W.Khan, vice-chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Chairman, Distance Education Council, New Delhi on September 23, 1998.The studios are  equipped with a Master Control room and Video editing setup with Beta cam equipment to produce curriculum based Audio-Video lessons.

The University has been broadcasting syllabus-oriented educational lessons over all India Radio, Hyderabad. 'B' with short wave support for statewide coverage.

Telecast of Video Lessons on Doordarshan

The University has recently launched telecast of educational video lessons through Doordarshan Channel-8. The video lessons are telecast for five days in a week i.e., from Monday through Friday.

 

TELECONFERENCING:
A Live Experience

The Center has also taken up the initiative to organize interactive teleconferencing through Doordarshan Channel 8 on every Sunday between 2 to 3 PM. The program provides a live experience for the students to interact with the experts sitting in the studios by using a telephone. The interactive program is held by providing necessary technical facilities to receive the program at all the 23 district study centers. The study centers have been equipped with a cable connection, a TV monitor, STD phone to enable the students and counselors to interact with the experts during the program. The students from their houses and work places can also watch the program if they have a cable connection.
