• To carry out system-based research in distance education in India, the Asian Region and beyond;
• To conduct workshops, seminars and training programmes;
• To establish collaboration with institutions and agencies in India and abroad;
• To undertake consultancy services and commission projects related to the distance education systems;
• To promote, coordinate, fund and sponsor research projects.
