Dear Readers,

  I am very glad to write to again through this Newsletter  ''Opvarsity News''.

           As you know, We  have recently celebrated the Sixteenth Convocation on  March  29, 2008. His Excellency Sri N.D.Tiwari, the  Chancellor of  the University and the  Governor  of Andhra  Pradesh  graced  the  occasion and  gave away  M.Phil and   Ph.D.  Degrees,  Gold Medals and  Book Prizes. Sri B.K.Chaturvedi, IAS,  Member, Planning  Commission, Govt. of  India, New Delhi was  the chief guest and  his inspiring convocation address is published in this issue for your information. 

            As a  matter of  fact, it  was  my  first opportunity to  associate   myself  with   the convocation  after  assuming charge as  Vice Chancellor. It was  gratifying to see  students from all sections of  the society in  different  age  groups participating in  the  Convocation and to  receive  their  Degrees and  Diplomas. As many as 15,037 Degrees,  Diplomas  and  Certificates were  awarded at this  Convocation including 37 prisoners  from Central  Prison, Cherlapally, Warangal and Rajahmundry who came personally under police escort to receive their degrees.

           To  Keep  pace  with the  change that  is  coming  about  and  to  keep our  learner's awareness constantly upgraded,we are entering into partnerships with different institutions  The Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences(NIMS),Hyderabad has come forward to collaborate with us in offering programmes such as B.Sc. Nursing and B.Sc. Health Care.

          We have also held discussions with the Development of Animal  Husbandary, Govt.of A.P. for  offering short term  programmes in the areas like Dairy Technology.

           With the new academic year  (2008-09)  about to commence, I welcome all our new learners who are joining various degree, PG, certificate and research programmes and hope that the academic year during thier period of study would be rewarding and fruitful.
